MoonDoku: Sudoku Nights (Demo)
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
A cozy sudoku for the end of the day, with a cat for company and a lo-fi radio under the rain. Solve tonight’s puzzle and it becomes a star in your sky.
This is the free demo for Windows, macOS and Linux: the whole game with a smaller puzzle pack. You get twenty puzzles, every world and every coat, and tonight’s Nightly in full.
What’s in the demo
- The Nightly. One board a night, the same for everyone who plays it. Every solve becomes a star in your sky, your stars join up into constellations, and missing a night never undoes one. It comes from the server, so it needs a connection.
- Twenty puzzles, five each of Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert. Every one has a single solution you can reach by logic alone, so there is never a guess to make.
- A cat who lives here. Between games it sits on the observatory’s window ledge; while you play it walks along the top of your board. Click to pet it; right-click, or click and hold, to change its coat. There are eight, from a plush gray Chartreux to a longhaired Ragdoll. It winces at a wrong number and slow-blinks after twelve right ones in a row.
- Ten worlds wait outside the window, from falling cherry petals to rain, fireflies and shooting stars. Click the brass arrows beside the porthole, or tap the bracket keys mid-puzzle, and the whole game repaints to match.
- MoonDoku FM has three stations (Chillhop, Lo-fi Jazz and Downtempo), and you can mix sounds over them: café, rain, fireplace, ocean and storm, each at its own level, all offline.
How it plays
There are no pencil marks. Every number is checked the moment you place it: right answers lock in, wrong ones clear themselves, and the first slip is explained. You get three hearts a board and a few hints, and on endless boards the clock never touches your score, so take your time.
Play with the keyboard, the mouse or a controller. When you want just the board, press F: Focus dims the room around it while the music plays on.
The full game
The full game has 5,000 puzzles of its own (1,500 Easy, 1,500 Medium, 1,250 Hard and 750 Expert), all playable offline, and 17 achievements. It is coming to Steam, where you can wishlist it now, and MoonDoku is also on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Good to know
- The demo has no achievements; the full game has 17.
- No account is needed. Only the Nightly needs an internet connection, and the twenty puzzles are all offline.
- MoonDoku speaks English, Deutsch, Español, 简体中文 and Português (Brasil), following your system’s language.
- Your progress is saved on your computer.
Put the kettle on. The board’s ready.
